In Good Night and Good Luck, Edward Murrow's charisma captured his audience and kept them coming back every week to watch his news program. I believe that in todays society it wouldn't be possible to captivate an audience the way Edward Murrow did. Todays society seems to be more absorbed in entertainment news than hard news. There has been a great shift of importance in todays society than in the years of Edward Murrow. Although there is a war going on now that involves the US and, there was the same issue during Edward Murrows time, I feel that there are so many people that are against the war that they decide to not watch the hard news that involves those topics. Also, Edward Murrows program was so bland that something that simple could not keep up with the people of today. People need flashy and entertaining things to keep their attention when they watch a program. To compare the news anchors of today and Edward Murrow, this you tube video of Larry King shows the difference to this you tube video of Edward Murrow. There is a significant change of scenery in both programs and there are constant subtitles in the Larry King show. There is also music playing in the background of Larry Kings program.
